After finishing the season with Zalgiris Kaunas, Isaiah Wong will continue his career in Europe, this time signing with Gran Canaria
Per the press release: "Isaiah Wong (New Jersey, USA, 2001) will arrive in Gran Canaria after gaining experience in the NBA, G League, and Euroleague. The American will share the shooting guard position with Braian Angola, bringing versatility, talent, and accuracy at the rim, qualities that earned him the ACC Player of the Year award in 2023.
The shooting guard began making great strides as a basketball player during his college years. The New Jersey native attended the University of Miami, where he played for the Hurricanes. There, he played four seasons at an outstanding level, averaging 14.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. His growth continued that same year when he decided to enter the NBA Draft. Isaiah Wong was selected 55th overall by the Indiana Pacers and, on July 3, signed a two-way contract with the Indiana franchise.
With the Indiana Mad Ants, the Pacers' G League affiliate, Wong played a total of 42 games, averaging impressive numbers with 15.8 points, 3.4 assists, and 3.5 rebounds in 27.8 minutes played. His second year of NBA career continued with the Utah Jazz, where he signed a contract to eventually join their G League team, the Salt Lake City Stars. There, he played eight games, totaling 24.1 points, 3.6 assists, and 3.9 rebounds in 31.4 minutes, and was also chosen as Player of the Week for a game in which he scored 41 points. In the 2024/25 season, Wong signed with the Charlotte Hornets, where he competed alongside players of the caliber of LaMelo Ball and Vasilije Micic. With the North Carolina franchise, the player played a total of 20 games with the first team, averaging 13.3 minutes and averaging 6 points, 1.4 assists, and 1.6 rebounds. He also averaged 16 points, 4 assists, and 4.7 rebounds in 33 minutes for the Greensboro Swarm, the Hornets' affiliate.
On February 26th of this year, Isaiah Wong took a career turn and decided to cross the pond for his first adventure in European basketball with Zalgiris Kaunas. The American signed with the Lithuanian team as a replacement for Lonnie Walker IV, a player who had returned to the NBA. In Kaunas, Wong played 14 games between the Lithuanian LKL and the EuroLeague, finishing the 2024/25 season with averages of 8.6 points, 1.4 assists, and 2.1 rebounds in 15.7 minutes of play, and winning the Lithuanian league with Zalgiris. Thus, the American guard will arrive in Gran Canaria to embark on his first experience in Spanish basketball and contribute all his talent to Jaka Lakovic's team".
