Just over a week ago, the UNC women's basketball program extended an offer to high-rising Class of 2026 guard Aaliah Spaight.
Fast forward to today (about a week later), and the Tar Heels made the cut among Spaight's 10 finalists.
Spaight revealed her list of finalists to Talia Goodman of On3/Rivals. The 5-7 point guard is still considering LSU, South Carolina, Texas, Texas Tech, North Carolina, Arizona State, Arizona, Rutgers, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech for her future home.
In case you missed our original article detailing the UNC women's basketball program's offer to Spaight, this paragraph will tell you everything you need to know about this high-rising prospect:
A 5-foot-7 guard from the Class of 2026, Spaight has been absolutely balling on the Nike EYBL Circuit. Currently a four-star prospect (ranked No. 77 in SportsCenter NEXT 100), Spaight is leading the EYBL in scoring at an astounding 28.3 points per game. She doesn't only score the basketball, as she serves as a facilitator for her team, Team Why Not, averaging 5.5 assists per contest.
Courtney Banghart often talks about the need for having a lead guard who can score and facilitate the basketball. Spaight certainly can do both, as there might not be many guards in this recruiting class (if any) who can handle both responsibilities like the Las Vegas, Nevada can do.
The late jump into her recruitment hasn't hurt the UNC women's basketball program in any way. Banghart and the Tar Heels are firmly in the mix, and now will have more time to prove to Spaight that she belongs in Chapel Hill to be the next great point guard at North Carolina.
