"Coach Staley turns bigs into beasts." That's how five-star South Carolina women's basketball recruiting target Oliviyah Edwards announced her plans for an official visit to Columbia. According to Edwards' Friday social media post, the top-five national prospect will be on campus the weekend of September 19th.
Edwards has visited South Carolina before, having taken an unofficial visit last season. She was in town for when the Gamecocks faced off with the LSU Tigers. (Perhaps coincidentally, perhaps not: a number of Edwards' unofficial visits have come with LSU as the visiting team.)
The 6-4 Washington native recently scheduled her official to Tennessee, as well. Several other schools, including LSU, are expected to earn OVs, too. She already took an official visit to Southern Cal.

Nicknamed "Big Oh," Edwards is the top power forward in the Rivals Industry Rankings. She is also ranked No. 4 nationally, regardless of position and No. 1 in Washington.
As a player, Edwards is an explosive athlete. She combines an impressive wingspan with real bounce, and she has dunked in a game recently. Her jump shot is improving, and she is expanding her range to behind the 3-point arc. With her size and athletic ability, Edwards is an elite rebounder and shot-blocker. She is an impactful and versatile defender who can guard multiple positions.
Previously, Edwards stated that she plans to announce her commitment following her official visit schedule. She has also said that she would like to reveal her college choice before her senior season of high school begins or in the early stages. Duke, LSU, Florida State, Notre Dame, Southern Cal, North Carolina, Tennessee, Washington, and Florida joined South Carolina in Edwards' top 10 last summer.
