Darts round-up: West Midlands secure victory in UKDA Championship opener

West Midlands opened their UKDA Championship campaign with a 20-16 victory over Kent.

Ryan O'Connor, Paul Price, Jack Aldridge, Scott Baker, Mark Craddock, Jon Platt and Richy Platt inspired the Men's A team to a tight 7-5 victory.

The Women's A were held to a 3-3 draw thanks to Jack Trott, Kat McLean and Gemma Barrett, the latter hitting seven perfect darts in her lady of the match award winning performance.

Kieran O'Mahoney, Martin Price, Will Beaden, Jordan Craig, Luke Griffiths, Jay Woodhouse and Rob Thompson propelled the Men's B team to a 7-5 triumph, before Kelly Aston, Kath Jenkinson and Sarah Marbury guided Women's B to a 3-3 draw to secure victory.

In the Tettenhall Wednesday League Cup, Junction B mounted a mammoth comeback against Dog B to book their place in the final.

Junction found themselves 7-3 down but hit back through Jack Aldridge, Martin Price, Callum Parkes and Mark Curley to level the score.

Jack Aldridge took the all-important game in seven darts, and set-up a final against McGhees Irish Bar, who beat Codsall Bull 8-6.

Hurst Hill claimed their first victory of the season in the Coseley Friday League by beating the Royal 5-1 courtesy of Craig Hampton, Shane Preston, Danny Jones, Aaron Jones and Billy Jones.

Lower Gornal BI B remain unbeaten following a 5-1 win against Gate A, with George Willetts, Ryan Green, Geoff Marson, Adam Edgar and Ash Marson doing the damage.

Parkes Hall also extended their unbeaten start by winning 5-1 at Carlaston Cons thanks to Jamie Rollinson, Steve Davies, Harry Williams, Joe Turner and Mark Rollinson.

Reece Evans, Dan Watson, Kye Simmonds and Rob Pitt guided Wednesfield Sunday League leaders Ashmore A to a 4-2 success at The Angel.

Elsewhere, second-place Wednesfield Legion defeated Gilberts A 4-2 courtesy of Paul Simmons, Sid Bourne, Glen McGrandle and Dean Fullwood.

Junction also emerged as 4-2 victors over Dog, with Mikey Harris, Phil Mayo, Mark Curley and Dan Fellows securing the victory.
