Adrian Lewis believes that a lack of team experience was detrimental to Luke Littler and Luke Humphries at this year's PDC World Cup of Darts, as the English duo suffered a premature exit in their opening round. Despite Littler heading into the tournament as a reigning world champion, and Humphries sitting first in the PDC Order of Merit, darts fans were under no illusion that it would be easy pickings for the two.
But nobody quite expected them to crash out in their opening game courtesy of an 8-4 loss by Martin Schindler and Ricardo Pietreczko, especially given Humphries' experience at the competition; havingwon last year's event paired with seasoned veteran Michael Smith. While many have their own theory as to why the two failed to deliver early doors, from the lairy home crowd booing them as they arrived at the oche to a devastatingly in-form German duo proving too hot to handle, Gerwyn Price made the audacious claim that Littler and Humphries lacked chemistry and a connection.
