BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The high school football season kicked off with an exciting matchup at Waterhouse Field, where the Biddeford Tigers faced off against the Sanford Spartans.

In the first quarter, Sanford's defense made a strong impression with Lucas Barrow delivering a big hit. The Spartans then took control on offense as quarterback Adam Cote connected with Perrin Shaw for a deep pass into Tiger territory.

The drive continued into the second quarter, culminating in Jayden Franco's 5-yard touchdown run, giving the Spartans a 7-0 lead. The Tigers struggled to gain momentum, and Drew McGrath's interception inside Tiger territory further hindered their efforts.

A few plays later, Cote added to the Spartans' lead with a short touchdown run. The Spartans dominated the game, securing a 28-14 victory over the Tigers in their season opener.
