Kyreece made his U's senior debut in April, emulating his father Kevin, who made 83 appearances and hit 30 goals in his two successful spells at Colchester.
Kevin says he is looking forward to seeing Kyreece next season build on his performances for Colchester in the final weeks of the 2024-25 campaign.

Kyreece initially had to be patient for his chance after joining the U's from Brentford B in February and spent time out on loan at Braintree Town, alongside twin brother Kyrell.
However, Kyreece returned to the JobServe Community Stadium in April and went on to make four appearances for Danny Cowley's side in the latter weeks of the League Two season including his first-ever EFL start, at Doncaster Rovers.
"He was frustrated coming from the under-20 league and not being selected initially and being sent out on loan, so I just think he was keen to put that Colchester shirt on," said Kevin, who finished as Colchester's top scorer in their second Championship season with 17 goals.

"He's watched me play for Colchester and I think it was a major thing for him to play for them and make his debut.
"He's done that and has done really well, so I'm really looking forward to seeing how his season pans out at Colchester and seeing him make a name for himself.
"It was a good moment to see them both play at Braintree together.

"They've gone on their different journeys with Kyrell in the non-league and Kyreece at Brentford B, so to see them play together three years later and not only that, to see them play really well was great.
"I really enjoyed the way that they both expressed themselves and seeing their enjoyment and love and enthusiasm for the game.
"That was a really proud moment and one that was good for both of them."

Kyreece made his EFL debut for Colchester in April, while Kyrell's outstanding season at National League side Braintree last month secured him a move to League One club Peterborough United, on a three-year deal.
He said: "I'm really proud of their journey and their resilience.
"I'm proud of the way that after both being released from a number of clubs, they've worked their way back up to being professionals, which has probably been both of their dreams.

"I played for 20-odd years and I think the main thing was being humble enough to try and learn and get better and also enjoy football and appreciate it.
"Due to their journey, I think they both will and I'm looking forward to this coming season and seeing where it takes them.
"It's nice initially to hear people talk about my sons but the aim now is that they carve a career out for themselves and people see them as individuals now, rather than my sons."
