COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A former Gamecock and NFL football player recently held a football camp to help young players develop their skills.
Patrick DiMarco hosted his first gridiron football camp for 130 children ages 7 to 13.
Participants get the chance to practice various skills like passing and catch-and-run plays. Kids at the camp also get to play a few rounds of flag football after going through drills and finding their strengths.
DiMarco said the camp is a great chance for kids who want to go to the next level to learn the basics of football.
"They're getting NFL lessons at the age of 7 years old, you don't really get that very often," he said. "Like I said, for everyone who helped out these kids, if you didn't learn something today, you need to grab me after and I'll teach you something right then and there because there's a lot of wisdom in these coaches, and that's what it's all about. passing it on to the next generation."
