New steak, seafood restaurant coming to SouthPointe

Now that it's barbecue season, you might be thinking of treating your dog to some of your leftovers, but this is not recommended.

SouthPointe Pavilions is filling one of its spaces with a North Carolina-based steak and seafood restaurant.

Firebirds Wood Fired Grill is set to have a location in the open-air shopping mall, according to a $1 million building permit that was submitted July 24. However, nothing has been finalized, according to a spokesperson from RED Development, the commercial real estate company that manages the shopping mall.

The restaurant serves steaks, seafood, chicken and burgers. Firebirds cooks almost everything with an open flame, from steaks to seafood to vegetables, according to its website.

Firebirds has over 60 locations, the majority of which are in the eastern half of the United States. The restaurant also has an Omaha location. The restaurant chain did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

SouthPointe has a space marked coming soon on its website that matches the address listed on the building permit, at 2950 Pine Lake Road, between Old Navy and a nail salon. That location used to be Amish Furniture of Nebraska.
