Izzi Stricker's decorated golf career reached uncharted territory at the Wisconsin State Golf Association's women's amateur championship on July 15.
The Wisconsin women's golfer and Waunakee alum competed in her first-ever playoff alongside Hannah Dunk and Hadley Ashton, who also finished the initial 54 holes with a 10-over-par 226, per WSGA.
Stricker prevailed in the two-hole playoff at Maple Bluff Country Club after earning par on both holes.
Polzin: Why leaving 'home' was never an option for this Wisconsin football standout
"Playoffs are super nerve-wracking and a new feeling, but I felt like I handled it well," Stricker said. "Having three people starting the playoff was super interesting and the different mindset to stay locked in during a different format of golf was fun to experience."

Stricker's top performance of the tournament came in the second round when she shot even-par 72 and had four birdies. She was 5-over-par 77 in the first and third round.
While the course and subsequent putting was challenging, Stricker said prioritizing puts for par and minimizing damage helped.
"Ultimately winning the state amateur is something I've always wanted to accomplish and to add my name on that trophy is such an honor and I will cherish the memory forever," Stricker said.
The victory over familiar faces and friends has Stricker currently atop the women's amateur player of the year standings, per WSGA.
The sophomore is excited at the prospect of earning that accomplishment, as it'll be a testament to her growth this summer.
"My ball striking has improved tremendously this summer and I've put a lot of work into my swing, so it's nice to see it's paying off," Stricker said.

Stricker added that her amateur championship performance will pay dividends during her upcoming collegiate season.
"I believe this performance taught me grit and patience," Stricker said. "Even though it wasn't the easiest course to play, I was able to keep my wits about me and still score. I think I can take those strategies to college and use that at a higher level."
