Meet the high street argyle jumper that's set to become autumn's hero.
It might feel a little early in the season to start calling out viral autumn hits, but I'm confident enough to say it: H&M's argyle jumper is about to be everywhere. The moment Iris Law took to the runway in said sweater, stomping down a red-lit catwalk to blaring music, it was clear -- this was the brand's hero piece of the season.
Once dismissed as fusty and old-fashioned, argyle has undergone a full revival. Thanks to the likes of Miu Miu, who reimagined it as a golf-chic Gen Z status symbol, as well as S.S. Daley, Kent & Curwen and Dior, who also backed the diamond pattern on their runways, argyle is officially cool again. And, Fashion Week has only confirmed the trend's resurgence. Across London and New York, the streets were dotted (checked?) with argyle knits styled in every way imaginable -- from leather skirts and thigh-high boots to wide-leg tailored trousers.
As always, the high street has been quick to respond, which nicely brings us back to H&M's mohair-blend argyle knit from the brand's Premium collection, a slightly high-neck design that feels equal parts chic and directional. Affordable, elevated and set to sell out fast, it's the kind of piece that looks like it belongs in a luxury line-up.
