Honda racer Phil Wright delivered a stellar performance at his home circuit of Snetterton on Sunday, securing two podium finishes in the Racing Hondas Championship.
Wright kicked off the day with a strong qualifying session, earning the second spot on the grid behind pole-sitter Will Self.
When the red lights went out for the opening race, the Dersingham driver made an excellent start, immediately chasing down the #34 car of Self.
The two front-runners pulled clear of third-place driver Talbot by the end of the first lap.
The race was halted mid-way due to a stranded car, prompting a red flag and a complete restart.
Undeterred, Wright again launched cleanly off the line, staying tight on Self's rear bumper.
Despite the pressure, Self held his lead, and Wright crossed the line in second to claim his first podium of the day.
A reverse grid draw of number four placed Wright third on the grid for race two later in the afternoon.
Another lightning start saw Wright charge up to second by turn two, quickly closing in on leader Collins.
In a thrilling final-corner manoeuvre, he snatched the lead, but Self was not far behind.
By lap three, the championship leader had closed to within half a second.
Wright defended fiercely but with two laps remaining, Self made a decisive move at turn two's hairpin to reclaim the lead.
The West Norfolk race ace held strong to the finish, securing a second P2 finish and a successful home weekend.
Phil Wright will be back in action at Tunerfest North at Oulton Park on Bank Holiday Monday, August 25.
