It's not often that Realme graces us with a new flagship killer, particularly not a collaboration effort, like the Naruto GT Neo 3, or in this case, the Realme GT 7 Dream Edition. This time, it's the Aston Martin F1 branding plastered all over the smartphone's bits. Did we mention it's coming to South Africa?

Well, it is. The Realme GT 7 Dream Edition can be had for a relatively reasonable R19,000 -- reasonable once you peek at the tech packed under the hood (and remember Oppo's recent efforts were similarly priced). The GT 7 boasts a 7,000mAh battery and 120W charging, alongside a half-decent Dimensity chipset.

"Motorsport fans, gamers, and tech enthusiasts will especially appreciate the luxury design, speed, multitasking ability, and camera intelligence we have integrated into a flagship smartphone. We're particularly proud of the IceSense Graphene tech, which keeps your phone cool under pressure while staying light, strong, and sleek."

Arriving in a collector's box, just as worthy of recognition as the phone itself, featuring a Racing Green finish, "two-wing aerodynamic design," and the famous silver wings associated with Aston Martin. Also in the box is an F1-themed case and SIM ejector tool, although it's joined by a fairly ordinary power brick and cable (itself an abnormal state of affairs for new smartphones).

Once unboxed, the 6,000-nit-strong 6.78in AMOLED display stands out, though the device's IP69 boasts may not be quite as obvious until you send it tumbling down a flight of stairs. As if you needed any advice, we'd recommend not doing that, despite what Realme tells you.

Inside lies the 7,000mAh battery we mentioned, as well as the 8-core MediaTek Dimensity 9400e chipset running the show. It may not be quite as capable as some newer flagships, but it'll do the job without much hassle. Realme, at least, reckons it is capable of keeping up in terms of AI proficiency. We'll be the judge of that.

We haven't managed to find a listing for the GT 7 Dream Edition locally just yet, but Realme assures us it's coming, and soon. It'll be available through Vodacom for R19,000 (or R880/m for 36 months on contract), Amazon, Takealot, Dunns Online, and Cellucity.
