Who are the Philippine national team athletes in Netflix's "Physical: Asia"?

Netflix Philippines on Friday revealed the official lineup of Team Philippines for "Physical: Asia," which is set to premiere this October.

The team is headlined by eight-division boxing champion Manny Pacquiao, who will be joined by athletes from different sports.

Pacquiao, a boxing Hall of Famer, holds a record of 62 wins (39 by knockout), eight losses, and three draws.

Aside from Pacquiao, several other athletes in the lineup have also represented the Philippines on the international stage.

Here's what you need to know about the national athletes:

Mark "Mugen" Striegl (Sambo)

Striegl, 37, is a mixed martial arts (MMA) star who won a gold medal in sambo at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games. He is a former URCC featherweight champion and has also competed in ONE Championship and the UFC. Overall, Striegl holds a professional MMA record of 20 wins, five losses, and one no contest.

Brown, 31, is a national track and field athlete who won gold in the 400m hurdles at the 2023 Asian Athletics Championships. She also clinched two silver medals at the 2023 Southeast Asian Games (400m hurdles and the 4x400m relay) and is a six-time bronze medalist across the 2019, 2021, and 2023 editions of the SEA Games.

Coveney, 40, was a key player for the Philippine national rugby team Volcanoes that won gold at the 2015 and 2019 Southeast Asian Games. In 2019, the national team won all of its five preliminary round games en route to the gold medal match.

Ray Querubin competes in both powerlifting and weightlifting, while Lara Liwanag is a competitive CrossFit athlete.
