A woman was taken to hospital with injuries sustained during a crash in Warwickshire. Emergency services rushed to the scene on Leicester Road in Rugby early on Thursday evening.
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called shortly before 6pm on Thursday to a road traffic collision involving two cars, one of which had collided with a lamppost at the junction of Boughton Road and Leicester Road in Brownsover, Rugby.
"One ambulance attended the scene. Upon arrival we found a woman who was a passenger in the first car. She was assessed and had sustained potentially serious injuries. She received treatment from ambulance staff at the scene before being conveyed to University Hospital Coventry for further assessment."

The incident led to traffic build-up in the area, with Rugby Police advising at the time: "There is a road closure in place on the A426 Leicester Road in Rugby between the Brownsover Road and Newton Minor Lane roundabouts..
"The closure will be in place for some time. Please reroute accordingly. Thank you for your patience."
Having asked for further update the morning after the incident, Warwickshire Police confirmed the incident was reported to them at 5.57pm and that the "road was re-opened later that night once vehicles were recovered".
